Last night we watched Julie/Julia and I can't tell you how much of an impact that film has made. Although it is perhaps the exact opposite kind of film that I normally enjoy, it has been an amazing light bulb moment for me.

The best way I can describe is in GTD terms (Getting Things Done). David Allen talks about the "natural planning model" and the way that before we can accomplish anything we first have to establish purpose and vision. I have recently practiced this with amazing results when renovating our house by making a treasure map on the wall of clippings from interior design magazines. Yet, when it comes to internet marketing I very, very rarely visualize my intended outcome.  

Frank Kern has done some videos showing his swanky lifestyle - and that is definitely a powerful vision of something to aim for, however, the Julie/Julia film actually tells the story of how someone leads a market..... with a blog! That really appeals to me and I don't think I have ever actually watched a movie that tells that story before. 

The closest thing to it was the book tribes - which had the same effect on me (in audio book form) - it made me want to sit down at the computer and become a market leader. Even though Ed said in Manchester 09 that it is never too early to do video on your blog (that should have been a clue of things to come), I've never allowed myself to get stuck in and led a market. I had the rule that before you lead a market, you have to test a market.

This years Challenge is the best ever because for ages I have wanted to practice market leadership during the testing stage.

Despite being one of the most annoying films I've ever watched I will be watching Julie/Julia on a regular basis (if not semi-regular).

These next two modules (and the previous Module on Posterous)

more traffic and more backlinks to your sites than anything else.

It costs you nothing to do.

It's awesome.

There's a MASSIVE CATCH.

This method requires the most effort of any traffic method. You
can't outsource it, you can't buy it.

It's by far the most satisfying thing you'll ever do in your
vocation but could easily take 12 months!!!! effort before you see
any return.

In fact, you should plan on never getting any reward other than the
personal satisfaction of undertaking the adventure and sticking to
it.

WOW - Ed - this is your worst pitch ever... I'll pass.

WHOA THERE LITTLE BUDDY...

There's one itsy bitsy issue. If one of your competitors undertakes
this strategy and sees it through...

Your Toast.

I know, I'm full of joy.

So here's the deal - there's no charge for these lessons, there's

You can make a judgement for yourself.

I will ask one thing - if the lessons resonate with you - can you
talk about them. Spread the word however you see fit.

I'll say again - this is the most important, sustainable,
rewarding thing I've ever taught.
